Confessions of a dying elixir - Water

More than 4 billion years ago, when the 3rd farthest planet from Sun came into existence, so did I. Eons later life took its first leap in the cradles of my shadow. I was termed the elixir - the only means of existence for the far reaching flora and fauna. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my elixir in the midst of this give and only give business. Today, I am on the brink of extinction and I question all the beings..Will there be a realization sooner enough to save me from fading away?

Water.....

As we know it, is a life long companion, right from the birth till the final sip of death. Water in terms of Hydrosphere covers a lion share of the earth's area in different forms, out of which the purposeful drinking water holds a smaller percentage. Well I can munch lines by lines to describe water but I think whoever reading this will be like, "Say something new!!!". So its better for me to write something which you might be too ignorant to be aware of.

"WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF WATER"

Lets take a look at this video

As rightly told in the video
Whisky is for drinking and water is for fighting

Undoubtedly, Climate change has led to a drastic shift of hydrological cycle, to which Capetown has turned out to be one of the early victims. There are hoardings of water conservation everywhere. Is it too late for them? Is it a warning signal for the rest of the country? The question is on one to decide, whether to continue wasting water or start thinking about its conservation.

After spending 2 decades of my life in a place of rain forests, Assam, I realized that water conservation was a mere 5 marks answer, to one of the "so called compulsory" Environmental Science paper. However after moving to Bangalore, I could hear of water problems in every nook and corner, starting from the issue of Kaveri to the worst rainfalls of 2016, leaving behind a state of cracked dry lands. The land of beautiful lakes and abundant drinking water, Bangalore, today gets its supply from a huge proportions of water tankers. Imagine a day or two without these tankers, life turns topsy-turvy. What concerns me the most is the situation of slums in all the metropolitan cities where people engage in fist fights and blood sheds just to get a bucket or two filled from a sparsely visiting water supply.

What is the solution of these problems?
Primarily its just two....
INITIATIVE to practise water conservation as an individual
AWARENESS to make others practise your practice
As an initiative, we should first make sure of spending less water where at all it is possible. Try to harvest rain water and use it for household activities. Do not pollute the water resources like lakes and rivers.Besides this I believe that merely conducting Environment Science exam doesn't make any sense, rather there should be an annual mandatory activity of visiting places and educate people.

Similar is an initiative done by LivPure called the #CuttingPaani campaign. Here is a small glimpse into the campaign
